Choose from a variety of welding rods and brazing rods that offer excellent performance, durability, and versatility for various welding applications.
Brazing is a metal-joining process in which two or more metal items are joined by melting and flowing a filler metal into the joint, with the filler metal having a lower melting point than the adjoining metal.
Brazing differs from welding in that it does not involve melting the work pieces. Brazing differs from soldering through the use of a higher temperature and much more closely fitted parts. During the brazing process, the filler metal flows into the gap between close-fitting parts by capillary action. The filler metal is brought slightly above its melting temperature while protected by a suitable atmosphere, usually a flux. It then flows over the base metal (in a process known as wetting) and is then cooled to join the work pieces together. A major advantage of brazing is the ability to join the same or different metals with considerable strength.
For example, nickel silver brazing rods are recommended for use with steel, stainless steel, nickel alloys, copper alloys, cast iron, and tungsten carbide, while copper phosphorus brazing rods are suitable for copper, brass, and bronze. Another option for brazing stainless steel is to use brass rods.
Popular welding rod types include 6010, 6011, 6013, 7018, and 7024. Each type suits different purposes like repair, fabrication, or maintenance. The numbers indicate specifics about the electrodes such as arc stability and strength.
When choosing a welding rod for a job, you should ensure it matches the base metal's composition, thickness, and tensile strength. You also need to consider joint fit-up, weld length, travel direction, and weld position.
For most uses the E6013 is a good all around electrode choice. It can be used to weld sheet metals, heavy plates, and just about anything in between.
To complement your welding needs, we also provide a range of accessories such as welding flux, electrode holders, and welding wire brushes. These accessories ensure smooth and precise welding operations, resulting in high-quality welds.
