The primary use of the roughing gouge is for reducing square cross-section spindle-turning blanks to cylinders ready for further detailed operations.

Up there with the best

Having had the opportunity to use one of these Narex Gouges I can relate that it was sharp and ready for use straight out of the package. It feels comfortable in my hands and I was surprised at how well balanced it is. The Beech handle is waxed, not highly lacquered, and provides an excellent level of grip. I highly recommend this product, and for this price it offers value for money too.
