Classical Bit
Use this carbide tipped classical plunge bit for routing decorative details on the face of raised panels or solid wood panelling using a template. Edge profiling is possible in a router table setup.
These anti-kickback bits have more body mass, and their enlarged bodies prevent the bits from biting too deeply and catching on the material, a design that minimizes the risk of work piece kick-back . The greater body mass also helps to dissipate heat and keep the bits sharp for longer.
An upper ball bearing guide allows one to use this decorative plunge bit for template routing in the middle of a workpiece, or one can mount it in a router table for edge treatment. Pairs a cove with a round over for an attractive finished look as shown below.
